After moving from Auckland in 2001, we established La Folie Jolie in a 100 year old cottage within Akaroa's historic area to showcase Jennifer‘s stoneware and porcelain animals and the work of other well-known New Zealand potters. At the same time we also established a picture framing service.

Two years later, our friends encouraged us to purchase goods on our annual trip to France to add a soupcon of genuine French flavour, in keeping with the history of Akaroa.
After six years of travelling to France, visiting ‘la grande exposition’ of French-made products - Maison et Objet - and visiting workshops and artisans all over France in search of the traditional and the unique, La Folie Jolie has become known simply as 'The French Shop'.
